HIS WILL OVER MINE

Hi! My name is Micaiah Lynch, and I am a senior at Lakeway Christian Academy in White Pine, Tennessee. As a Senior, I’ve been allowed to lead in multiple different positions. With these positions, I’ve learned many great lessons and had many opportunities to grow. I’ve also discovered what I feel is my greatest enemy - perfectionism.
As leaders, we want to do everything with excellence. So much so that we may push ourselves too much. I feel like sometimes in music I do this as well. I’ll make a song, and then, go back and “fix” something. Then, I’ll return to it later and “fix” something else. This seems to be an endless cycle for me. This past week, I challenged myself to make a song in 45 minutes and just be done with it. Now, I could just be hyping myself up, but this seems to be one of my best ones yet. But regardless, doing this was so freeing to me. Because I decided to be done with it, there was no going back and “fixing” what didn’t need to be fixed.
You see, as leaders, we overthink a lot and rightfully so! We have so much on our plates. But sometimes it is best to stop doing what we think is best and instead seek first the Kingdom. This can simply look like saying, “God, let Your will be done.” And then, being done with whatever you were doing and allowing God to take control of the situation.
I am not perfect and neither are you. And friends, that is okay! Because in our weakness, HIS strength is made perfect. My weakness is perfectionism, but by allowing God to take control of the situations I stress about so much, His strength is made whole, while my confidence is restored.
If you have taken anything from this today, please let it be this:
By giving God control of my weaknesses, His strength is made perfect and my confidence is then restored. When I can’t do something on my own, God shows me the right way to do things.
HIS WILL OVER MINE,
Micaiah
